Re: Placement of Figures and Tables

A combination of the tabular environment and the multirow package will do what you want \documentclass[a4paper,11pt]{article} \usepackage{graphicx} \usepackage{multirow} \begin{document} \begin{tabular}{cc} \begin{tabular}{ccc} Distance & Column 1 & Column 2\\ 1 & 0 & 0 \\ \end{tabul...

unequal superscript heights

Hi All, If you compile the below MWE you will see that the superscript 2s are at different heights \documentclass[a4paper,11pt]{article} \begin{document} \[ E_{_{qp}} = \sqrt{\left(E_{_{sp}} - E_{_{F}}\right)^{2} + \Delta^{2}} \] \end{document} I've tried using \left.\Delta\right.^{2} to raise the s...

Re: Word cuts Topic is solved

Try putting
  1. \hyphenation{denk-lem}
in the preamble of your document

Re: Add DOI support to .bst file

This is by no means a general solution as I have only done it for articles, but I have modified the original bibtex style file so that the volume and page are a link to the address of the doi number given. My modifications require the use of the hyperref package. I'll outline what I have done so hop...

Add DOI support to .bst file

Is it possible/not too complicated to add doi support to an already existing bibtex style file? I must be googling the wrong keywords as I can't seem to find much about it. I'm currently using this style http://waugh.cchem.berkeley.edu/thesis/prsty.bst Which styles natively support doi links? Perhap...

Re: Question regarding integrals and differential d's

Hi Sleort, This may not be exactly what you want, but can edit it. \documentclass[a4paper,11pt]{article} \newcommand{\myint}[2]{$\int \; #1 \, \mathrm{d}#2\,$} \begin{document} \myint{f(x)}{x} \end{document} There is a good explanation here http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/LaTeX/Customizing_LaTeX

Re: geometry package margin failure

Looks like if you use any options, you have to say which command they are for. [php1ic@10 ~/tmp]$ which dvipdf /usr/bin/dvipdf [php1ic@10 ~/tmp]$ cat /usr/bin/dvipdf #!/bin/sh # $Id: dvipdf,v 1.4 2002/02/21 21:49:28 giles Exp $ # Convert DVI to PDF. # # Please contact Andrew Ford <A.Ford@ford-mason....

Re: geometry package margin failure

If dvipdf is simply a script that does "dvips file.dvi | ps2pdf" then dvips may be trying to interpret the option hence the error message. The equivalent dvips option is "-ta4", but then the ps->pdf may revert back to US-letter I force a4paper format at each conversion, this is w...

Re: <x>

I'll assume you have tried typing <x> in maths mode
  1. \documentclass[a4paper,11pt]{article}
  2.
  3. \begin{document}
  4.
  5. \[\langle x \rangle\]
  6.
  7. \end{document}

Re: geometry package margin failure

What is the default paper size on your system? I don't think dvipdf reads the .dvi file for paper size, so the final pdf may be letter rather then a4. From the man page NAME dvipdf - Convert TeX DVI file to PDF using ghostscript and dvips SYNOPSIS dvipdf [ options ] input.dvi [ output.pdf ] ... DESC...
