I'm a Windows user, and I must admit that I was never using LEd. However, for my projects I really prefer to use pdflatex or texify, which means that DVI preview isn't much of a help. I'm not completely sure, but as far as I know, DVI demands all the pictures to be in EPS. I really prefer pdflatex, ...
