Re: Breaking math expression Topic is solved

I can't figure out why it won't work in my file. I'm posting the whole thing here -- even though it's not exactly an MWE -- hoping someone can help me. The \linebreak is on line 275 (with wordwrap turned off). It will be question 7 in the output. Test 2 (Sets, Fcns, Combinatorics).tex I can't attach...

Re: Breaking math expression Topic is solved

It seems that when I turn \everymath{\displaystyle} back on, it blocks the \linebreak . Is there a way to turn off \displaystyle temporarily? I've tried \textstyle but no luck. If not, I can probably get away without it this (and most) documents (mostly, I hate the displaystyle \sigma and \int , etc.

Re: Breaking math expression Topic is solved

Thanks. Not looking for a matrix. In math terms (if you're curious), it's a set of ordered pairs, which is not the same as a matrix. Your first solution is what I want. I see you used \linebreak . This is good for the time being. Is there a way to automate it, so that LaTeX chooses an appropriate li...

Breaking math expression Topic is solved

How can I get a long expression to break across lines within a paragraph? I have (well, had) \everymath{\displaystyle}. I have a long line that I do not want to put on its own line Given the relation $R$ on $A=\set{1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8}$ defined by $R=\set{(1,1),(1,2),(1,4),(1,8),(2,2),(2,4),(2,8),(3,3),...

Total points on a page using exam class

I want to total the points on the bottom of each page, instead of for each question (you know, if a page has more than one question, or less than one full question). I swear I read how to do that somewhere, but cannot find it. Is there a routine way to total the points on a page?

nicefrac in siunitx Topic is solved

Is it possible to use standard units as in package siunitx and have the units display as if in a \nicefrac ? Also, how do you get the number portion of sinunitx (e.g., \num{\nicefrac{a}{b}} , or \Si{\nicefrac{a}{b}}{\units} ) to work with \nicefrac ? I've looked over all of the options (and the cryp...

Found file is reported not found Topic is solved

The following code includes a .JPG file. The output includes the file correctly, but displays the file name next to it and the build output says "LaTeX Warning: File `Review Test 1 Limits.JPG' not found on input line 6. But the file was found, and included. How do I fix this warning? \documentc...

Fitting a multirow tabular cell with rotated text

I'm trying to get the "Degree" cell with the rotated text to expand to fit the text, but with no luck. I've tried \hspace, \vspace, and the following ~\hspace\baselineskip which I got from here . I also tried using [origin=c], suggested here . I've tried commenting out my parindent and par...

Re: Why the broken vertical bar in the right of my table? Topic is solved

IOW, \hline does not need a newline. You're right, there are vertical cell spacing commands in the tabularx class which would be better, but I just went with this solution (I also got the column definition working). \documentclass[fleqn,addpoints ,answers ]{exam} \usepackage{amsfonts,amsmath,amssymb...
