I use natbib with the following options: numbers, comma, super, sort&compress. This way, if I want to cite 1,2,3,6 and 7 I get "1-3,6,7". This is exactly what the package should do, and I am perfectly fine with this. However, the correct way to do this, according to my library specifications ...
