I use BiBTeX along with swplanat (Swedish language files) in LyX with author year set. The in text quotations basically look like this:

(Smith, 2005)

and in the References:

Smith, John. Title and so on. 2005

I discovered that then I have two authors Smith their works are called a and b if the ...
