I did try same as you Sekantombi \{ldots}
and took me a 'wee' time to figure it out (rightfully ! ;P).
Last line should omit \\ to get the blank line
Could be as 'simple' as this;
\documentclass{article}
\begin{document}
\begin{verse}
There was an old party of Lyme \\
Who married three ...
