inconsistent listing line numbers

Hi,

I do not understand why my lstlisting snippets become inconsistent (i.e., the listing code displays line numbers every "n" lines) when I use a predefined template. "n" changes among the different listings I have.
I have indicated "stepnumber=1" however the error persists.
