When I use Texmaker (both in 1.9.2 and 1.9.9) the code auto completion helps me until I need to type a special character. For example, when I start typing "\begin" a popup appears giving me a nice lists of environments, but when I type the "{" to attempt to limit the list the popup disappears ...
