Ha! As usual posting a question forces one to think of the solution. I forced dvips in the TexNicCenter output profile to use the "-t letter" option and I get letter output!

Help! Dissertation needs to be in letterpaper not a4paper s
I'm using the documentclass option "letterpaper" but I still get a4 sized output with TexNicCenter + TeXLive. Thanks in advance for your help.

Nothing of the sort. Don't mess with success and all that -- haven't moved any projects. Anyhow, the problem seems to recur when the PC crashes with TnC running. Again, though, it's easily resolved by starting TnC via double-clicking on the icon for a .tex file instead of opening TnC in the usual ...

FYI, I managed to get TeXnicCenter to load by trying to open a specific .tex file instead of merely opening the program. I'm still curious as to where everything is stored should I need to re-install or maybe work on another machine. TIA.

Can't recover from crash!
My PC mysteriously crashed mysteriously and rebooted while I was away. TeXnicCenter was running. After the apparently spontaneous reboot, TeXniCenter won't open! I get the splash screen, I get the main window with panes in place but also immediately get an error window with the message "TeXnicCenter ...

Can we get something other than the default skin? The default phpBB skin is, well, getting old.
