I have looked again myself, but cannot find the cause of the problem. If anybody can help, and needs more than the .tex file posted above, or a clearer description of the problem, please let me know.

Steps to reproduce it:
- latest texnixcenter and miktex
- select menu/file/new project
- choose the "basic article" template from "English advanced"
- give it a name, OK
you will see in the Outline that the Appendix shows 2 Missing sections.

sorry but I don't know how to post a picture. anyway, if anybody would like to help, it should be possible to reproduce the problem just by creating a new project with the basic article template

I am also encountering this problem. It immediately springs up if you try to use create a new project with the basic article template.
I have installed TeXnic and the recommend miktex distribution just a few days ago, so I should have the most recent files. I am in windows7.
