Re: Which documentclass is used here?
I guess there is a big chance that it is home cooked recipe but I've seen at other times too (not by the same person) so there is a chance of it being a (sort of) well-known package. I'll probably wait a few days and if no one turns up with an answer I'll contact him and I'll be happy to accept your ...

Which documentclass is used here?
Hello,
Does anyone know the name of it? I guess I could have emailed him but it seems like an odd thing to email about.
http://thales.math.uqam.ca/~anelm/mat/doc/these.pdf
Thanks.

Re: Acknowledgements
Hi,
Actually this forum ended up as a search result when googeling. So I have already seen the thread in the link and a few others. My primary choice would however be an already predefined enviroment. I saw there is a "\thanks{...}" but it does not appear to do anything special. I am using amsart ...

Acknowledgements
Hi,
When I am adding
\begin{acknowledgements}
\end{acknowledgements}
I get errors (undefined enviroment). Are there any packages that need to be imported? I've googled but I keep on getting the impression that this is "standard stuff" and should work.

Diagram and '≅' sign using xymatrix
Hello,
I would like to draw a vertical isomorphism sign (i.e. a vertical "\cong") using xymatrix. Can this be done?
To be more precise, the command "\ar@{=}[d]" draws a vertical equal sign, I would like to replace "=" with "≅".
Cheers

Re: Add a note at the lower part of the page
Yeah, it was footnote. A follow up question: Using footnote, you only seem to be able to use numbers (not asterisk or other things), is there a way to do this?

Add a note at the lower part of the page
Hi!
I would like to make an asterisk next to a word and explain it further at the lower part of the page (sometime author have a system where they add the references at the lower part of each page). Maybe the best way to explain this is as a margin at the lower part of the page. How do I do this?

Write stuff in levels under each other
Say that I have two conditions P_1 and P_2. Then I want P_1 to be precisely under sup and P_2 to be precisely under P_1. I.e.,
How do I do this? Example:
P_1 is in the example exactly under sup, but P_2 is not exactly under P_1
Code: Select all
sup (something)P_1P_2
Code: Select all
\displaystyle \sup_{{P_1}_{P_2}}
