Just to add information, I tried changing the Screen Fonts in Tools->Preferences.
I tried many fonts, but in all of them the square root sign looks too thin.
In contrast the generated pdf has nice readable square roots signs.

Thanks! That worked perfectly.
Other thing I noticed, is that the "font" for the square root is not very visible for a proyector (it is too thin, and hardly visible from loin), compare this to the integral sign that is perfectly visible.
Is there a way to change this "font" LyX uses ...

Hi,
I'm planning on using LyX for teaching calculus in a classroom with a projector.
A feature that I'm sure is going to be usefull is the zoom in/out, just like in firefox, I know I can zoom with ctrl-wheel mouse.
But in firefox/etc I'm used to zoom in with ctrl+, and zoom out with ctrl-, and ...
