Hi, thanks for your help! Thanks to your comment I realize that it must be something with the OSX keyboard. I changed the keyboard setting - in my case back from Int'l to Dutch and now the problem is gone. All my fault for experimenting with the keyboard settings.

This is probably a silly question but I just don't seem to be able to find the answer - and I find it really annoying.

When I try to input a superscript using "Shift"+"^" in math mode LyX automatically shifts into text mode ( \text{} ) and displays an actual ^ instead of a superscript box.
