First question I asked myself: who would read 3000 rows of data? Is there any way you can convert your data into a plot of some sort?

PST/PSTricks not working at all

You have to use LaTeX in dvi mode, or use XeLaTeX.

You cannot use pdfLaTeX to generate a pdf directly if you want to work with pstricks.

No. Read an introduction to LaTeX.

I personally wouldn't recommend to use the template. It doesn't do anything useful. Templates just confuse new users.

Recommend a LaTeX compiler/editor for me

You seem to be expecting more from your editor than it does.

What you need to install is a TeX distribution. I recommend TeX Live.

An editor is already installed on your system. I like to use vim, others would recommend emacs. Others recommend TeXstudio. But in the end, it's your decision.
