I had the same problem in Lyx. And lyx told me it was in my main class file, but it was acutally in a completely different filethat has my appendix, i had a \ where i shouldnt have in there, took me forever to find what was wrong

I am writing my thesis using a customized class file. In my list of figures (which is automatically generated), all of the figure titles that are wider than the set margins, are not stopping at the margins, but are falling off the page so to speak.

Sorry for all my ramblings, it was something very simple. I found usepackage 'backref' in my Latex preambles. QED!!

Hopefully the suggestions here will help anyone else who finds the same problem. Thank you for your help!

Document > Settings > PDF Properties > Backreferences > Off

Its under the Use Hyperref Support, Hyperlinks

But when i select it i ge tthis error:

Hi Clemens, thanks for your reply. I am using a .sty file that controls the overall thesis file. I will admit this is a hand-me-down sty file and so i did not write it. In saying that, I did not change anything in it, but the person that gave it to me did not have the same problem.
