Sounds like I'm having the same issue, and I'm pretty sure I haven't hit any defaults. New computer and downloads of MikTex, Ghostscript, and WinEdt 6.0.
In attempting to remedy the issue I've renamed all of my files, deleted everything save the .tex files, and even re-installed WinEdt. However ...
