Re: Amsmath errors

Sorry, the problems put me in a bad mood. This time it turned out to be my fault, as I didn't realize the program links that used to be in the Start Menu in Win7 are still accessible in the Win8 start screen. So Miktex Package Manager appears there.

Re: Amsmath errors

I am getting this error on LyX.

How do I install amscls ?

On the ams math webpage there are extensive instructions but refers to a seemingly non-existent location "TEXMF".

Searching on google results in advice to run the MikTex package manager, but how do I locate that? The miktex folder on disk ...

filename problems

I am noticing that I need to alter my filenames to get them to compile (using MikTeX via LyX).

If there are apostrophes in the filenames I get a crash.

Also, in the resulting PDFs, spaces in the filename are replaced by underscores.

I can see that MikTeX gets continually updated. Is there any ...

complaints about \newreffomat

When I put in the preamble something like:

\newrefformat {pro}{Proposition \ref{#1}}

I sometimes get a complaint on compiling: "Undefined control sequence."

It's a strange error because it happens in some documents and not others, despite having all the same settings, and on some documents I ...

Document settings -> Modules
Use the "numbered by type" versions of the theorems modules you want.

Re: Tool for simple Math Diagrams

Thanks for the advice; I do appreciate that programming in the equations will make them perfectly consistent, and if I were a publishing company I would definitely want that.

But my typesetting standards aren't quite so high. Productivity and ease of use are more important for me, so I am looking ...

Tool for simple Math Diagrams

Hi.

Not specifically a LaTeX question, but can any one recommend a program for producing simple vector graphics (e.g. hand-drawn graphs, functional diagrams, charts) with formulas. In a standard format (probably PDF or SVG) that can be input into LyX/LaTeX.

At the moment I'm using Powerpoint 2010 ...

references and cross-references

I am having problems with references.
Specifically, in some of my LyX documents (not all), LaTeX complains at compliation if there are commands in the LaTeX preamble like:
\newrefformat{pro}{Proposition \ref{#1}}

I am not sure why this applies to only some of my documents, while others complile ...
