[solved] glossary with the gloss package

I'm trying to use the "gloss" package to automatically create a glossary for my latex document. But wherever I put the \gloss{name} command, I only get " [name??] " in the compiled document. The only way I get it to work is if the identifier and the "word" field is exactly the same.
E.g.:
@gd {SNMP ...

I'm using bibtex for my references, and was wandering if there exists any packages that allows me to use the remaining noncited sources in the .bib file to make a separate general bibliography list? I know I can use \nocite to include noncited sources in the reference list, but I need a separate ...
