Thank you, but on my old laptop I use Adobe Reader, and the PDF files overwrite with no trouble while open. Is it some kind of bug in some new version of LaTeX?

Hello everyone,
I am a somewhat seasoned LaTeX user. I work on a Windows XP machine with the MiKTeX distribution and prefer TeXnicCenter, working with the option LaTeX => PDF.
