Fail to compile

Hi,

welcome to the forum!

Seems the file is locked or the folder is read-only, or the cloud folder is syncing while you are compiling and writing to it. Perhaps work locally and mirror it with a script (crontab) to the cloud folder.

How to make \tableofcontents not show word Contents and how to introduce more dots

Yes, keep scrartcl, that's much more modern and offers a lot of options for customization.

Suddenly stopped compiling

That code is ok, no error.

Can you please post the code with that figure that has this caption/name (Crisis transmission maps)?

How to make \tableofcontents not show word Contents and how to introduce more dots

In this topic, there was no document class mentioned. So I chose just any one. And I chose scrartcl because I saw your header is in sans serif font, that's scrartcl style (KOMA-Script) but not article default style. I just had to guess.

numbring in sections/subsection

Hi Sam!

You can turn off numbering by \setcounter{secnumdepth}{0}.

You can number examples per section automatically, however without a section number it's very strange. You get examples 2.1 and 2.2 but there's nothing ever that has a 2 as a reference. I would think about it again.

Perhaps like this: \documentclass{article} \usepackage{dashrule} \usepackage{xcolor} \newlength{\mypageheight} \newcommand\lines[3][1pt]{% \setlength{\mypageheight}{#3}% \loop% \addtolength{\mypageheight}{-#2}% \ifdim\mypageheight>0pt% \textcolor{red}{\hdashrule{\textwidth}{#1}{#2}}% \repeat% } \beg...

Font Effect Topic is solved

Hi Sam, you could use the contour package. For example: \documentclass{article} \usepackage{contour} \usepackage{xcolor} \begin{document} \contourlength{1pt}% thickness \contournumber{20}% copies used \contour{gray!50}{\protect\contour{white}{% \sffamily\Huge\bfseries\textcolor{green!80!black}{SAMPL...

Hi Sam, you could use the dashrule package. For example: \documentclass{article} \usepackage{dashrule} \begin{document} text \hdashrule[0.75ex]{\textwidth}{1pt}{1ex} text \end{document} Click the link above to see the manual with explanation of the options. You can use the usual color commands if yo...

How to make \tableofcontents not show word Contents and how to introduce more dots

Hi, by the way, one can get a faster answer if actual code is posted that I just need to modify a bit. Now I wrote this code myself, and here you can see what you can change: \documentclass[toc=sectionentrywithdots]{scrartcl} \begin{document} \addcontentsline{toc}{section}{Contents} \makeatletter \@...

new page

Hi Chari,

welcome to the forum!

\newpage is correct. Insert \newpage when you would like to start a new page, such as

  1. \documentclass{article}
  2. \begin{document}
  3. \newpage
  4. \title{Reference List}
  5. \maketitle
  6.
  7. reference 1.\\
  8.
  9. reference 2.
  10. \newpage
  11. text on the next page
  12. \end{document}
