What should be the natural spacement between equations?

Hi Cham,

take a look at this topic. Instead of 0pt as there, you can choose any you want for all equations with multiple lines at one. And for interline space in multiple eqautions, as above, you can globally adjust \jot, such as

\settolength{\jot}{12pt}

Why is this simple macro gives an halting problem?

Welcome to the forum!

Yes, some real code would be good to see, to check what happens. You can also post the .blg log file here, as attachment to a post. The attachment link is below the text edit field, when writing a post.

Typical font size used for a large physics book

Great project! Instead if measuring font size you could also count the number if lines oer page to compare. But the visual appearance is as you like :-) but the best physics books are a good reference. You like them, you may do similar. :-)

Spacing troubles in ToC

I think loading the tocstyle package can help, it adjusts the spacing automatically. There are also some options for classic or other styles.

Why this kind of detail does not seem to be in tikz documentation?

There are many packages that are extensions of TikZ or special applications, written by other authors. Their documentation is separate. You could for example visit TeXdoc.net and type the tikz keyword in the search field and click the search button, to find documentation for TikZ related packages. S...
