Eventually the IT people here sorted things out and updated my machine. I am now convinced though that this was a TeXnic Center problem ...

Same problem over here. This machine has MikTex 2.7 installed and GSview. I don't understand what is wrong with this setup as it was working on my old machine. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
