Multiple Footnote Streams / ledmac alternative?

I am currently trying to typeset a bilingual document with the ledpar-package, and tried to resort to ledmac for multiple footnote streams.

Left side: text a with two footnote streams
Right side: text b with two footnote streams

My "problem" with ledmac is, that (at least with the examples shown ...
