Have you tried reinstalling lyx? For me it solved the problem partially (on windows), meaning that most of the times the pdf button work ok and only a few times that it doesn't update properly.
If this doesn't work you could try the export function located in the menu:
File->export->PDF ...

Well I tried sumatra PDF but it didn't really work for me. I now reinstalled adobe reader and I reinstalled Lyx. The problem still is not fixed but it has improved. Now most of the times I create or refresh the PDF file it updates correctly, about 1 out of 10 times it goes wrong. I do not know if ...

I am using windows 7 home premium 64bit as an OS and I use adobe reader 9.4.5 as pdf viewer.
I also have the older Lyx 1.6.8 installed (with this version I do not have any problems) (does this version maybe interfere with the other lyx 2.0?)
