Dear LaTeX Community,

after more than a year of work, I finished the LaTeX Cookbook. It's a great moment for me, and I'd like to share it with you.LaTeX Cookbook cover image

It is a collection of useful and interesting recipes. Those are examples with step by step instructions. Each how-to is followed by an explanation of how it works. Additional tuning details follow.

The topics cover most of the common LaTeX fields:
  • Starting with document types such as books, presentations, leaftlets, and posters
  • Shaping and tuning text and fonts
  • Working with images and tables
  • Creating bibliographies, glossaries, and indexes
  • Using PDF specific features
  • Doing math with a focus on advanced tasks such as plotting functions, drawing geometry, and doing actual calculations
  • Creating diagrams such as flowcharts, pie charts, bar charts, and trees
  • Applying LaTeX for various sciences.

Take a look: Table of Contents.

To give you a better look at the style of this book, I made a website for it:

The website shows you a complete sample chapter, and additional examples in a gallery. You will notice, that I'm a big fan of TikZ and use it whenever I can. I invite you to take a tour: LaTeX-Cookbook.net. I hope you will enjoy it.

The publisher agreed with me to give 35% discount to LaTeX friends who pre-order the book. This is valid until October 31st, 2015. (use coupon code SVLIDA7, total number of uses is limited afaik)

For beginners, the book is perfectly supplemented by an introductory book. So we made an addition. My earlier book, the LaTeX Beginner's Guide, can now be ordered with a 50% discount (on the ebook). That offer applies until November 30th, 2015. (use coupon code tDRet6Y, limited) I hope, this offer can make the entry to the LaTeX world easier. For the same reason, I would be glad if you would share this news on facebook, twitter, and blogs. You may link to this post or to LaTeX-Cookbook.net.

My special thanks go to all the people who support LaTeX and LaTeX users, especially in online forums, such as here in the LaTeX Community forum.
