Code lost in online Editor

Postby slusk » Sun Jun 09, 2013 2:53 pm

Hi.

me and my colleague are writing a report for a computer science project. We are using the WriteLaTeX online editor. A mighty fine tool if you ask me. The issue we encountered today, though, is this:
(no line number in this file):
(job aborted, no legal \end found)

I don't specifically know what the error means, but the problem is that the entirety of our latex has disappeared. It's simply gone.

Has anyone else experienced this with the WriteLaTeX editor? We're getting kind of stressed out because the report is due tomorrow. Any help is appreciated.

Hi slusk,

Welcome to the LaTeX community! The cause of the `no legal \end` error could be found if we could see some code that causes it but you're saying it is gone... In my opinion you should try to contact the WriteLaTeX people and see if they can recover your files.

They provide contact information on their website. They're also active on G+ (WriteLaTeX profile or John Hammersley and on Twitter.

Regards
Clemens

Thanks for the quick reply. I've contacted the people at WriteLaTeX to see if we can recover our progress.

Hi slusk -- we helped someone out with lost code the other day, was that you?

I've just seen this post on the forum and wanted to double check. If you're still having any problems let us know.

Best,
John

PS: Thanks also to cgnieder for providing our contact details so you could get in touch, that's much appreciated.
