displaying cases based formula

Postby huu2014 » Sun Nov 27, 2016 2:53 pm

Hello,
Good day,
I am writing a cases based formula. However, only the bracket symbol is display, not the whole formula. is there specific latex package for greek letters?

using:
ubuntu 14.04
Latex 2016
RStudio 1.01.

# Latex packages
\usepackage{amsmath}
\usepackage{amssymb}
\usepackage{latexsym}

  1. \[
  2. \begin{cases}
  3. F(y) =
  4. \frac{x^{(\lambda)} - 1}{(\lambda)} $\text{if \lambda \neq 0$;} \\
  5. \log(x) $\text{if \lambda \eq 0$}
  6. \end{cases}
  7. \]

Please, can any one give me hint?.

thank you in advance

I'm not sure, but i thik you want the following?
  1. \documentclass{article}
  2. \usepackage{mathtools}
  3. \begin{document}
  4. \[
  5. F(y) =
  6. \begin{cases}
  7. \frac{x^{(\lambda)} - 1}{(\lambda)} &\text{if } \lambda \neq 0; \\
  8. \log(x) &\text{if } \lambda = 0
  9. \end{cases}
  10. \]
  11. \end{document}
The smart way: Calm down and take a deep breath, read posts and provided links attentively, try to understand and ask if necessary.
