Can't open .tmd files in TexMaker for Mac

Postby uhi888 » Fri Sep 04, 2015 11:38 am

Hi there,

a friend sent me files with a .tmd file extension and told me he wrote them in TexMaker (on a Windows machine). I then installed TexMaker for Mac but I can't open the files (the system won't recognise them). Only if I go to "open all files" in the "open" dialogue window then I can open them but there's only "wrong" text (please see it here:

The TexMaker for Mac system shows me only these extensions for opening:

How can I open these files now?

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the LaTeX community!

To me this looks like a file encoding issue. Ask your friend which encoding he/she used.

I don't know TeXmaker but I guess it has an option to set the encoding with which the file is opened.

I'd also check how other editors display the file.

Regards
Clemens

Hi Clemens,

danke fürs Erste. Ich frag' mal nach bezüglich des Encodings.

Thanks so far. I'll ask him about the encoding.
